Drones Meeting: Saturday, July 15, 2006

We talked about: Why is the American infrastructure failing? Engineering? Graft? Workmanship? Should government provide social services for its population ? Instead of prison, should criminals be required to endure varying periods of extreme pain? Punishment vs deterrence in sentencing.

In my humble opinion Joseph Hansen systematically reduced Evan to absurdity when Joseph took a stand supporting natural rights, deterence, and when Joseph opposed Evan's encouragement of the practice of wife-spanking.

The effectivness of Joseph's argumentation is yet to bear fruit, but then Evan might be considered 'rocky soil'.

Appreciate some clarification of Evan's denial of natural rights.

How does one sin against a person when that person has no natural rights (or no rights at all)? Forgiveness becomes impossible without an infringement upon one's rights naturalis yet forgiveness is biblically required.
hmmmmm

Even though humans are the intended beneficiaries of many of God's laws it does not mean that the humans have rights or claims against other humans that deprive tem of God's intended benefits.

Evan's hidden agenda? Divine right of kings or biblical forgiveness which is it:

The theory of natural rights was developed during the Enlightenment in opposition to the divine right of kings. Per Wikipedia

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE

You may be King George Of Moscow but you derive your oracular authority from the consent of the governed and if you breach that social contract then the 13-colonies (governed) will invoke da right of revolution and draft a declaration of independence. It is after all our natural right.

What is this "consent of the governed" of which you speak?
It smells of peasants.

"Why is the American infrastructure failing?"

I wish I could have been there for this one. I think it's graft and the newer generation of engineers not up to the task.
